Need a little motivation??

There are times in our lives when we ALL need a little extra push to stay motivated. Here are some of our favorite coaching tips for keeping you motivated an on track!

10 Tips to keep you motivated
1. Garbage in – Garbage Out: Be mindful of what you are reading in the newspaper, watching on tv, or listening to on the radio. The media loves *doom and gloom*, and if we allow ourselves to be sucked in to all the negativity, we can lose our motivation quickly!
2. Don’t sweat the small stuff : When you are stressed out or worried about a certain situation, ask yourself if it will matter to you in 5 days, 5 weeks, 5 months, 5 years? Chances are it won’t, so let it go.
3. Learn to live in the Moment : Stop thinking about the past, worrying about the future…and live in the now. "The reason people find it so hard to be happy is that they always see the past better than it was, the present worse than it is, and the future less resolved than it will be." - Marcel Pagnol
4. Keep an Attitude of Gratitude: What are you grateful for? Start keeping a journal, and each night before you go to bed write down 5 things that you are grateful for on that day. When we learn to recognize and appreciate all the wonderful blessings we have been given in our lives, we can’t help but feel better.
5. Surround Yourself with Positive People: Author Jon Gordon wrote a book called The Energy Bus, and in the book he talks about the importance of having positive, like minded people on your bus (in your life). Take a look at who is on YOUR bus. Are there any energy drainers? If so, it might be time to kick them off your bus!
6. Don’t forget to have fun: We can get so caught up with work, chores, problems and other stresses that we often forget to have fun! Start scheduling some fun in your life! Make an appointment with fun and write it in your daytimer!
7. Look outside for Motivation: There are many sources from which to choose when looking for on-going motivation. There are books, books on tapes, podcasts, daily inspirational quotes and videos to choose from. One of our personal favorite websites to visit for motivation is http://www.simpletruths.com/
8. Have clear goals set, and create an action plan to achieve them: Having clear goals for our future keeps us motivated and gives us purpose. Don’t leave your future up to chance! Working with a life coach or mentor can help you in this area.
9. Practice self care: Remember to take care of yourself! Exercise, eat right, be current on your doctor visits and splurge a little…you’re worth it! Make time for that manicure, pedicure or massage.
10. 24 hour Unplug: This is a tough one, but I challenge my clients to do this on a regular basis….for 24 hours unplug yourself from technology. I promise the world won’t come to an end. Unplug means no cell phone, no internet, no facebook, no tv. Use this time to just BE.

Good luck and stay motivated!
